The 29th annual McConnells Mill Heritage Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 25 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Kildoo Picnic Area & Gristmill at McConnells Mill.
The event, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Portersville-Prospect, celebrates the time period of 1852-1928, when the gristmill harnessed the power of the Slippery Rock Creek to grind wheat for bread. Attendees can tour the mill and see its original machinery, visit a Civil War encampment, participate in art and craft demonstrations, partake in different family activities, and enjoy live music. Artists and craftspeople from the local area demonstrate their skills and have their wares for sale.
